I’ve written here about the impossible task of truly figuring out the best deals for paper goods such as toilet paper and paper towels. All I really do now is simply divide price by number of rolls, use a coupon and call it a day. I don’t deal with single roll, double roll, super roll, mega roll calculations. So…my bottom line is this, regardless of how big the darn roll is: toilet paper under .25 cents a roll for decent soft quality is great and paper towels for any quality under .50 cents a roll is acceptable. End of story.
So, of course, I decided to do a little comparison between sales this week because there is a decent deal on paper goods at Staples. (I have written about Amazon deals on the TFF Facebook page, but I have never taken advantage of them…I love Amazon for my Kindle books but haven’t done the toilet paper purchase there…however, there is a deal going on there on mega roll Charmin TP for something like .25 cents a roll–w/manufacturer’s coupon, so scroll down to the end of this post for the link or go here for the link from hip2save.com…).
Here’s what’s going on in the world of toilet paper in stores around Connecticut this coming week (starting Sunday, April 7th, 2013)–and these deals are calculated without use of manufacturer’s coupons (but there are a couple of okay coupons for some of these purchases if you have them to use).
Clearly Staples has the best deal on Charmin Basic (not my favorite, but it’ll do for the sale price…) if you use the 15% in-store coupon and if you calculate it as a double roll. Meaning, you will pay with coupon $8.50 a package for “48 single” rolls of Charmin Basic which means it’s about .17 cents a “single” roll. Confused yet…?

Use the store circular 15% off coupon to buy Charmin Basic 24 pack .35 cents a roll for $9.99 a package
But of course if you calculate this for double rolls, it’s .17.7 cents a roll (w/15% off coupon).
ShopRite:
Scott Bath Tissue 20 pack .55 cents a roll if you buy 2 packages for $11 each
Cottonelle double Roll 24 pack .46 cents a roll if you buy 2 packages for $11 each
Walgreens:
Angel Soft 24 “big” rolls .42 cents a roll for $9.99 a package
CVS: (if you spend $30 on products below, you get 10 Extra Bucks)
Cottonelle 18 pack .50 cents a roll for $8.99 a package
Scott 12 to 18 pack .43 cents a roll (for 18) at $7.77 a package
(So…if you buy 3 Scott and 1 Cottonelle for total of a little over $32, and you get $10 back, you can look at it as if you have spent $22 for 72 rolls, which would make that .31 cents a roll which in my book is still not that great. If my calculations are off, please let me know.)

Angel Soft 36 pack for .44 cents a roll if you buy it for $15.99 a package
Quilted Northern double roll 30 pack for .53 cents a roll if you buy it for $15.99 a package
