Maybe you are like me, and when you were 10, routinely read your parents’ copy of Reader’s Digest Magazine. My favorite page was “Quotable Quotes.” Perhaps this is where I got my inspiration to start a chapbook of quotes and words of wisdom to help me best overcome the adversity of life with grace and determination.
Here is one of my favorites to share on the subject of fear. We are surrounded by mass media that frequently stimulates fear, worry and anxiety. It is all to0 easy to fall prey and allow ourselves to be overwhelmed/victimized. May this quotable quote restore you to a position of strength, as it does me.
“Litany Against Fear” from Dune, by Frank Herbert
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
Ah, that’s better…Have a blessed day!
